NordicTrack iFit Review

nordictrack ifit

iFit is an interactive training app found on NordicTrack treadmills, studio bikes, and rowers. It features a vast library of live and on-demand trainer-led classes that include treadmill running, indoor cycling, elliptical training, and strength training.

iFit AutoAdjust automatically adjusts your equipment’s speed and incline to match the workout you select. It also offers destination trainer-led sessions filmed in scenic locations around the world.

iFit

iFit is a service that connects with NordicTrack equipment to allow you to follow an instructor as they lead class. It can also track your workouts and use Google Maps to create global workouts. GGR head content Kate Meier had no trouble connecting iFit to her machines and says the process was very straightforward.

The service is free for the first year with a new NordicTrack or ProForm machine, and then it’s $39 per month. The service stands out from Peloton in that coaches can control your machine during some classes and the app has a huge library of studio-style training including running, cycling, rowing and strength classes.

Some of these trainer-led workouts even include SmartAdjust, which changes your machine’s speed, incline or decline in real time to match the instructor. It’s a great feature that saves you from having to touch your equipment and makes it easier to keep up with instructors. You can also pair iFit with your heart rate monitor to monitor your workout intensity.

Streamed Workouts

The app integrates with a variety of NordicTrack treadmill, bike, rower and strength equipment and offers trainer-led workout classes in-studio or at destination locations around the globe. In some workouts, your machine will automatically adjust speed and incline to match the studio workout or destination terrain (SmartAdjust).

The iFit app features a massive library of workouts including HIIT, boxing, bootcamp, yoga, and strength classes. It also offers LIVE events and new workouts are added regularly. It’s an excellent choice for people who enjoy coached classes but don’t want to spend the money on a gym membership.

Some of the best streaming workouts include a wide range of exercise styles such as ballet (with the popular studio frequented by Victoria’s Secret models), barre, and full-body HIIT (from the brand that created a trampoline cardio workout). The app allows up to five additional users so you can train with family members and track your progress together. iFit also includes a global feature that lets you draw a workout on Google maps and use terrain mapping data to create a custom virtual outdoor training session.

SmartAdjust

SmartAdjust automatically scales your workout intensity based on your trainer-led workout history on your machine. This means you can continue following your trainer, but at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

When you choose to do a workout with SmartAdjust enabled, you’ll receive a trainer notification during the warmup, noting that we took your past workouts into consideration to craft a personalized session for you. Then, during your workout, iFIT will dynamically adjust your speed, incline, and decline to synchronize with the destination terrain, studio workout, or trainer-led class you are choosing to follow.

You can turn SmartAdjust off at any time by tapping the three horizontal lines in the top left corner to open your side menu and then navigating to the Personalized Training section. You can also set a max treadmill speed. Then your machine will never go faster than that during on-demand or SmartAdjust workouts. This feature is available on NordicTrack and ProForm machines.

Global Workouts

Whether you want to run or ride, iFIT offers unique global workouts that will challenge your muscles and your imagination. These classes take you to exotic locations, including New Zealand and Scotland. iFIT also provides a feature that allows you to see how challenging a class is based on how other members rated it.

iFIT, the leader in connected fitness software, content and equipment, is proud to announce a new series of in-person travel fitness experiences. The company’s patented interactive technology automatically adjusts the speed, incline and resistance of NordicTrack, ProForm, Sweat and Freemotion home and commercial fitness equipment to match the natural topography of the real-world destinations shown in streaming iFIT workouts.

iFIT users can now live-adjust their workouts using the iFIT app on their mobile devices or on a compatible fitness machine, and the app will alert them when they’re ahead or behind their pace and when they’re going off-route. The app can also track their progress and help them set goals for the future.
